we're alive I guess thats all that matters not much else is going good lol
I'm working 12+ hour days assessing losses walking roofs and fields taking pictures and dreaming about trees and shingles at night
after work I am running a homeless shelter at my house LOL for my family who is w/o power. laundry is piling up where everyone is showering and the dishes....DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE DISHES lol whatever, it'll get cleaned in time, as long as everyone is fed and comfortable my nephew is loving it, a ton of people to play peek a boo with lol
only parts of our town have electricity so things are still ridiculous I worked all day monday with no power at my job, that was so much fun lol luckily, it came back on Tuesday
today my grandma was rushed to the hospital and I have yet to hear how she is doing but shes been declining in health for a while now, the fact she has lived this long is amazing shes 89
my great aunt is dying. she had another heart attack today and the hospital called to say this is it everyone to the hospital now. I cant go b/c I am swamped. this is my lunch right now at 2pm and I'm checking all my internet things she hasnt been able to speak for a couple years b/c of strokes, its time for her to be at rest I'm worried for my grandma (not the one mentioned above) she lost her husband (my grandpa) in Oct and I dont know how she will make it now
WHEN IT RAINS IT POURS!! lol I'm fine though and just hoping things will settle down soon
this is typical of my life, not one problem at a time, FORTY SIX THOUSAND lol
as for our sorry damaged roof, there are waiting lists for contractors, who knows when we'll get someone to repair we managed to get it tarped down and covered with boards to hold it together I have yet to have an adjustor call me back so I can get the ok to even get on a waiting list that to me is the most frustrating part I dont have my home insured at the company I work for so I spend my days assessing other peoples and giving them the ok to repair but I have to come home to a mess.
I'll just keep calling and leaving messages. the last chick I spoke to said they had 30,000 kentucky claims. wowzer.

Amy I wish I could help you. I really know how frustrating this whole thing can be.
Your Family is very lucky to have a loving person like you to help them out. I hope your ill family members will be ok and I will be thinking about you.
We have our power back on tonight and I am so thankful for that. You really don't know how much you need it till it gone.

Our furnace has been on since Monday. So far, it's only on during the night. Have you done any winterizing of your house yet, Nana? I'm thinking we may need to start that this weekend.

Furnace? Ha. We still have our AC running. And it gets down to the 50s and 40s at night. But we have our AC set at 71 in here (it's been there all summer--hubby is exceedingly hot-natured.) It doesn't run much, but it's running right now. Getting down to 71 again. It's actually cooler than that outside. But we have all this electronics equipment on in here, and it really does heat up this room.
It's been so beautiful outside this week. I love fall!! It has been slightly cool in the morning, but I'm still wearing short-sleeves. My husband has made me more hot-natured too.

Hey Carol. You could save some hydro by putting a fan in your window to bring in some of that cooler air. Thats all the we use through the whole summer from about 6 or 7. Since you are on ground floor I wouldn't leave the fan in while you are gone or overnight but it uses so much less energy. We only ran our air conditioner maybe 10 times this whole summer. Mostly in the evening after 6 pm. A couple of times during the day when it was really boiling.
A fan would do great during the day too if you have it in a really shady spot. I would keep ours going in the front window until noonish. Then I when it got hot I would open the back window where that shade was and reverse the fan in the front window to suck out the hot air.

I agree, Laurie. But I'm afraid that I'm chicken to open our windows. We actually only have one window that could be opened (very small apartment with 3 windows, and 2 are covered-- one with a dry erase board and one with a wool Army blanket in the bedroom so no light gets in.) And I don't want to open the other one, because we are half underground, and the bottom of our windows is right at ground level. I can just see all the creepy-crawlies that I hate marching right in around the loose screens. Blech. There are even a couple holes in the screens. I just hate the thought of them being open.
But thanks for the suggestion. It's a good one.

The weather in Baltimore has been very warm. It feels warmer than the actual temperatures the last few days.
