www.wlwt.com/weather/17470496/detail.html12 hours of no electricity....230 pm to about 230 am
we are lucky we dont have the major power company duke power
almost a million people are w/o electric and it maybe a week before they can get it all back
they had to call our helping teams back from texas
4 people died by trees falling on them or their homes
we are 10-15 minutes from the airport and the winds there were measured at up to 75 - 80 mph
my county is in a state of emergency as is the whole state of kentucky
I had to call my insurance yesterday to file a claim for my roof
I called multiple times and couldnt get through
finally I got to the automated line, and had to wait 10 minutes to get a rep
he said they were taking more calls from ky/ohio/illinois/indiana than from texas
heres the last pictures I was able to take before it got dark
I'm scared to see it in the complete light of day
thank goodness we have no structural damage it appears
and apparently so far all we lost was the shingles
if you could hear it, the whole front wall of my house was shaking and it sounding like it was pulling apart
the poor dogs needed to go out to the bathroom but I was scared they were going to get hit by something so we had to hurry
this is my neighbors side of his house, his roof is probably worse than ours
our neighborhood is just a mess
we tried to pick up all out shingles we have a huge pile in our backyard
we decided to venture out to find some place with electricity to get something to eat
there were 2 gas stations, and 6 restaurants open down the street. Half the street had electric, half didnt.
OMG the gas lines were 15 cars deep at 4.15 a gallon!! WTF
the restaurants were all packed
we're used to storms and tornados here that YOU KNOW ARE COMING AND PASS QUICKLY
but this is just ridiculous
7 hours of continuous wind
you have no idea how STRESSED out I was as I stood at the door and watched my shingles fly into my backyard ONE AT A TIME.
plus I was super moody and had mega cramps...tmi I know lol sorry
today will be freaking great.....
I work at an insurance company so not only do I have to deal with my own problems
I have to go and assess everyone elses.
we are very lucky it wasnt worse
a building collapsed in cincinnati
and they had several fires
my current worry is gas
I'm on a 1/4 tank and most of the stations w/ electric are out
I'm sure my work has no electric
I'm currently stressing about how to deal with everything
AT LEAST I HAVE POWER AT MY HOUSE!!!
I WILL NEVER TAKE IT FOR GRANTED AGAIN!!!
