Sometimes I think she is so used to the chaos that she's grown up around, that the quiet at my in-laws seems like it would be really boring. She even told me once that it would be so boring to be there. I said, "Boring? You have your cell phone, you have high-speed internet, you have cable and a TV all to yourself. How can you be bored?" But I think it's because there isn't yellling and fighting and pot-smoking and white trash behavior that she's used to. She has to realize there is a better way out there. Maybe she's worried about rules, or loss of freedom? That's the only thing I can think of. Becca's mom lets her do whatever (she's 13 and has a 17 year old boyfriend AND wears make-up and low-cut tops to school!) and she always gets upset at her and Bella's Dad for not letting her do that at his house. Hopefully that isn't the case. Good luck talking to her, hopefully you can reason with her! I agree with Allison. I only say this because my stepdaughter has these same problems with coming to stay here with her dad. She is 18 but a senior in high school. He is more strict on her then her mother is. It's really hard to say what goes thru a teenagers head especially when they are torn between being a teenager and having to be in a grown up situation. My heart goes out to you, Haley and your family. I hope things get better soon. HUGS to you ALL...

I took Haley prom dress shopping this evening. It wasn't as bad as I was afraid it would be. She's a quick shopper. She doesn't mess around. We got a dress, shoes and a purse. Then went to Wal-mart to get her some everyday things. She only tried on 4 dresses, and I took pictures of them. She felt that 2 of them were too tight...although I kinda think the one she got is a little tight too. But I guess it's not tight...just form-fitting. Here it is: Richard said it looked like a "hooker dress." I said it did not. But he thinks it does. He has a problem with the halter-type top. But she really likes those kind of tops. The ones with spaghetti straps he thought looked better. Anyway, it has little silver stones on the chest area, so she got silver shoes and bag. The dress was marked waaay down (it must've been last year's dress or something)...it was only $22.50!! The shoes cost twice as much as that. Here are the others. I really liked the last one, except it was too tight. I loved the way the top was. I don't know what the style is called, but it was kind of drapey in front of her boobs.

We had a good amount of time to talk too. She's doing ok, still hanging in there. She has spent time at my in-laws house, but has spent the night at her church friend's house. That woman's husband has been out of town, so she asked Haley to stay with her and keep her company. Now tonight she's at her aunt's house. But she said she is moving into my in-laws. She talked to them about it and bringing her bed and all that.
She said she hates to leave her mom with her stepdad, because she's afraid of what he'll do. I told her that her mom's a big girl, and she made her bed, so now she has to lay in it. But Haley still loves her and worries about her. And she worries about her little brother too. But his dad says he's going to try to get custody of the boy next month (but he's said that before.) I hope he does though, because then that won't hold Haley there.
Anyway, she's working up to moving out. It's just really hard for her. But she's trying so hard to deal with life, and I think she's doing a fabulous job. I'm so proud of her.

Now, now, ladies!!! I luvs you both equally!! No possums need be thrown here. Judy, the purple one that you like was Haley's first choice, but she just didn't like how it fit. It was Richard's favorite too. He didn't think it looked like a hooker dress. He'd better not say anything to her about it looking like a hooker dress (I'm sure he won't, although he does tease her.) Thanks everyone for your compliments about Haley. She really is such a neat girl. She had her hair down the other day, and she looks so beautiful with it down. She just doesn't like to mess with it usually, which I know all about. And she wants to get contact lenses this year instead of her glasses.

Oh, it didn't come across wrong at all! I appreciate your compliment about Haley. She is a beautiful girl, inside and out. And thank you for what you said about me...my husband and I try so hard to try to make her life just a little easier. She has so much crap to deal with, and she's trying to keep it all together. She really is amazing. I'm so glad that we are able to help her out...it works out well that we didn't have kids of our own. We have the resources to help her out quite a bit. I think that's the way God planned it. Thanks again for reading and commenting.

Very pretty Thanks so much. I'm hoping that I get to go see her next Saturday all dressed up. They have a Grand March or something queer like that , where all the couples come down the courthouse steps or somewhere. I hope to go see that.

Ok, so because of circumstances beyond my control, I did not make it in time to see Haley in her Prom's Grand March. I was sad about that. But I did get a couple pictures from her sister's MySpace page. She hasn't sent me any of hers yet. None of these are great...I'll post the better ones when I get them. This is Haley and our older niece (her 18-yr-old sister.) We're not so fond of her...she's been arrested quite a few times already and continuously makes the same stupid choices over and over. Ugh...what a long and icky story that no one wants to hear. But sometimes she is nice to Haley...sometimes.

I'm so sad. I missed my nephew's first real baseball game tonight. I thought it was just going to be a practice, but they found out at the last minute that it was a game. Oh well, there will be more. Here are a few pictures. Here's also what my brother wrote: "Zach played both left field and third base. He also got two hits without the tee. He played two innings with each team batting through the entire lineup each inning. Outs, strikes and balls none count as well as no one keeps score. Normally a game is three innings but it took almost an hour and a half to play the two innings and it was getting dark." How fun is that? They are so cute! Zach at bat I love this one. It's my brother talking to Zach (probably telling him not to throw his glove around which he likes to do.) Hmm...I can't find the others I saved. Oh well, that's enough. You get the idea. I went out to see my nephews on Saturday morning. My brother sent me an e-mail later that said, "Thanks again for coming out, you are a big help for us. The kids love seeing Aunt Carol, so much so that I didn't tell them you were coming until after I talked to you on the phone. If I would have told them earlier Zach would have been asking every 5 minutes when will Carol be here." Awww....I almost got teary over that. They like me, they really like me!! LOL!!! Such sweet boys. Rowdy sometimes...but sweet.

I'm so glad that she has you and your hubby in her life. I also hope she does follow thru with going to live with your in-laws so she can worry about Haley and growing up like a normal teenager instead of dealing with the adult issues that she has had to deal with at such a young age. I also like the last dress as well even tho she looked beautiful in them all.
