OMG I just saw on our local news that the 9 yr old chinese girl that sang during the opening ceremony was lipsyncing to the song and that the voice was that of another chinese girl. The reason they gave was that the girl whos voice it actually was didn't fit the look they wanted but her voice did. How sad for that little girl How can you tell a little girl you got a great voice but your ugly. I feel so sad for her cuz now the story is out in the news so it will be embarrassing for both the little girls. I saw pictures of the girl that really sang it, and I saw nothing wrong with her. She looked like a little 9 year old Chinese girl. I can't believe they would do that. She is just a little girl.

I know that we have at least one member here from Mexico. I watched some women's synchronized platform diving last night, and a pair from Mexico won a medal...silver I believe. That was the first ever medal in diving for Mexico. That's pretty cool!!!

Trying to catch the field events has a totally new meaning for me this year. After watching some shot throws I see how important the pivot of the body on the realize is. So for next year I will be working on trunk control and trunk rotation.

I hope I can see some of the field events this weekend. I like those better than the track/running ones.

I was so happy for the girl gymnastics in the individuals. Winning Gold and Silver and not the Chinese this time. I wanted Shawn Johnson to win but Nastia is so graceful and was so beautiful. I hope they both do well in the individual events.
The entire time I'm watching the gymnastics I was thinking that maybe Mackenzie can be there someday. She has been taking gymnastics since she was 3 and is now 8. I saw her do a roundoff straight into a back handspring and land on her feet a couple weeks ago and I was so proud of her. She starts competing at the end of September and I can't wait to go watch her.

I was always too tall and awkward. I never even learned to do a good cartwheel. Pathetic... I agree...it's so neat to see taller, slimmer gymnasts like Nastia...their lines are so pretty. She was so beautiful on the balance beam and floor. But Shawn is just so darn cute. Like a little elf or pixie. I could just squeeze her cheeks. And I loved Shawn's attitude. Even when she made a mistake, she had a smile at the end. She seemed to take it all in stride. She seems really sweet.

Did anybody see Michale Phelps amazing win last night? I did...wasn't there a controversy? That was sooo close. But aren't those pads electronic...so I'd think they'd be right. But it was sooo close. I bet his mom was about ready to pass out. I saw an interview with him and Mark Spitz last night. Mark Spitz was much more agreeable than the previous interview he'd had with a French journalist when he was whining because no one "invited" him to come to the Olympics. He was very gracious towards Michael last night, and Michael is always very polite and humble in his interviews. It's nice to see.

I watched it as well - and while I think Spitz was more agreeable, he was still a little too full of himself for my taste. I think that is one thing about Michael that is so much more appealing - he seems very humble and not full of himself.

We watched the women's weight lifters. WOW! That was really cool. When I was in high school sports, the thing I hated most was lifting weights. I was never good at it! The bar alone was enough! My legs were pretty strong, but never have my arms been. Growing up, I was always athletic, and on some kind of sports team, but I've never been able to do a pull up or push up. My arms hurt just thinking about it.

It starts the end of September and she will be traveling around OHIO. This will be awesome for when I retire cuz I can go watch her without having to worry about taking time off. **jumping up and down**ouch and if hurts**LOL. Sure sucks to get old Anyway I can't wait for the Individual events tonight. I hope Nastia and Shawn do well tonight. You are right Nastia was beautiful but Shawn is just so cute. She is only 16 so I think she could be back for the next olympics.

I just got done watching some of the team synchronized swimming. I've always been fascinated by that event. It's so cool, but so odd at the same time.
I just hate all that makeup they have to wear. They look like clowns. But the stuff they do in the water is AMAZING. I just saw the 2-time defending gold medal Russian team perform, and boy where they awesome!! The stuff they can do in that water without ever touching the bottom is phenomenol. They have to be in super great shape!
Russia got 10s and I'm sure they won the gold medal again. Fantastic!
