They used to do it by voter registration...but now I hear they take names from drivers license records. So anyone that has a drivers license could get called. That's here in Illinois anyway.

Here in Colorado they use both voter registration and driver's license records. My best friend isn't registered to vote and she got a summons so I know they had to use her license. Before my husband and I were in our new house, he was registered in another county and every time he called for jury duty he had to drive an hour and a half to the courthouse. Because of the small county he couldn't call, he just had to show up to see if he was even needed. It really sucked because he works night shift (3pm-2am) and he'd have to be up there early.
