Here is an older style Husky puppy in the new LPS square packaging. Kind of interesting...I've never seen packaging like that or this particular Husky packaged as a single pet:

That kinda looks like the packaging used with the Seahorse that came w/ the Kohls back packs.

Yeah, I bet it came with something. There are no holes punched in it for a peg, and it looks too small to put out any other way at a store.

If I'm not mistaken, the wording on it is German.

hmm...maybe Germany is taking a more environmentally friendly stance on their packaging by using less of it. If they are, the US should definitely follow suit!

It is german - their toy packages do tend to be more compact than ours - but I've never seen LPS over there, so I don't know if this is shelf stock or not.

Germany has been way ahead of the US on environmental issues for a while. When my husband was there in the early 90s, their recycling programs were already way ahead of ours. In the McDonald's they had recycling bins where people would separate out their recyclables rather than just putting it all in the trash. He said it was very impressive.

Actually I really like this (Going Green) packaging, no bands and no extra wasteful packaging
There is only one down side, I noticed at the stores with the seahorse on the backpacks, several packages were empty and the cardboard was still attached to the backpack.
This packaging would allow to much opportunity to relieve stores of the item without paying for it. (Just a crying shame and displays part of the worst side of human nature)
I don't know if retailers here in the states would go for this packaging.
I don't know if stores in Germany have better store security or if the people are more honest.

Isn't this the Husky from the 2007 Advent Calendar?
IMHO, I LOVE the packaging!

Isn't this the Husky from the 2007 Advent Calendar? No, the 2007 Advent Calendar husky is sitting down and has purple eyes. I think it might be #68 from the original Polar Puppies set, but I'm not sure about the eye color. #68 has blue eyes, and in this picture it almost looks like the 'whites' of the eyes have a slight greenish cast to them. My #68 doesn't have that - the 'whites' of his eyes are white.

I can't think of any LPS that didn't have strictly white 'whites' of the eyes. Can you?

We just visited my in-laws in Germany this last August and I haven't seen this type of packaging. All the packages were the regular type. Toys (and everything else for that matter) are twice more expensive over there but luckily there wasn't much of the LPS selection to choose from . Germans do recycle EVERYTHING! There are bins for different recyclables everywhere! I was shocked to see how absolutely sparkling clean their public restrooms are! And I like the idea where you had to pay to use them. Most of the people use public transportation (it's in top shape!) and lots of people ride their bicycles everywhere even senior citizens.

I think the original turtles, #7 amd #8, had colored 'whites' of the eyes...I think Kevin mentions that in his list. But I agree with you that in this case, it is probably just bad lighting in the photo.

Ya know, I actually like it! We can fit more LPS in one bag/buggy now! And it won't be $5 for 1 pet!
