Some of you might remember a thread regarding problems with my temp company. Well, I was told I would be hired between 30 and 90 days. Today is 90 days. Last week, I inquired about when I would be permanently hired (and get benefits and pay would double). I was told there are no open positions and that it could be several months. I did not yell and was not mean. I said that I must have misunderstood things at the beginning because I thought being permanently hired was basically a given after 90 days (as long as job performance was decent). I go in today. They took my badge and walked me out to my car. Later, the lady from HR called and said she spoke with one of my supervisors and due to poor job performance they decided they will not hire me and don't want me to be a temp there anymore. She said the supervisor said I was not present when I was at work and that I left early at times. I was floored. She said the supervisor could not find me at times. I can not imagine what she or he is referring to. I never left early, except once when I came in earlier and had previous permission. In addition, I made sure I never took a longer lunch than what we are given (once I was less than 5 minutes over though). I am so sad. It is one thing to fire me but then to question my work ethic. I have never had anyone question if I worked hard. I really tried hard and all my chemistry tests had very good results. I never slacked off or spend time on the internet. If I had no tests to run I helped others or cleaned. Now, I have to look for another job here in Cleveland, where the job market is already pretty poor. I am so scared. After all bills, we have only $245 extra dollars a month for food and gas and anything else that comes up (car repairs, copays, etc). Sorry this is so long. I guess I need to vent.

I hope you find the good in all of this. When I lost my job a few years back, I was devastated. But after a few weeks, I realized that it was surely for the best. Something good will come along, hang in there. Let us know how your new job search goes.

You guys are so kind. Your words have brought a smile to my face. There were things about the job that were less than ideal so I can see some advantages to this. I usually am reluctant to change status quo, but maybe this job would not really work out and it would be a struggle all the way around. Off to monster.com

I'm sorry too that this has happened to you. How unfair! What a terrible company, maybe it's for the best - they don't deserve you. I wish you all the best and great luck in your new endeavor

I'm so sorry to hear about how your 90 days has gone...that's pittiful. Hold your head up and don't get anxious over the details; I used to work for a company and if they were told to cut the number of hours down, they would literally look at the last hire date and then think of things to say when there wasn't anything major to say.
It wasn't personal at all, but the poor person took it personally and it wasn't until they were rehired that they realized it and couldn't believe the amount of time she had wasted on trying to figure out what she could have done differently. Some companies...not sure, but I would think most times...a temp job may be just that a temp job ~fine print.
I know when I worked for a temp agency at an office. There were office employees and then temp office employees. All doing the same job ~ just hired differently, so wage wasn't the same, hours, etc. One of the supervisors confused me with the hired on girl and explained it all to me and I was floored. I was getting half what the other girls were getting and my job ended at the end of 45 days and then I had to return to the temp agency for the next job. I didn't ever go back. I went directly to the company, myself.
I don't know how the temp place works where you are at, but that's how it worked here.
I hope things go smoothly for you on your quest for a new employer. I hope you can overcome that initial feeling when it first happened or you first realized what was happening. It's just so unfortunate.
Keep your head up! Stay positive. Keep focused! Go for C*A*R*D*I*O! Soak in a warm tub of baking soda. Curl up with the Ultimate Gift DVD. Sip away at a warm cup of tea or hot chocolate (it's cold here today~nanaimo, bc, canada)! I wish you the best and will pray for you and your family.

I am sorry to hear about that but maybe this is your chance now to break out and find something better. Perhaps you are meant for something greater then a job that seems to think you as worthless and someone is trying to tell you that! I bet you'll get a way better job then this now. My prayers go out to you and your family. *ferrety hugs*

This kinda reminds me of a time when I was a teen working at Burger King. They fired me because my pants were not hem. Later I found out that the Manager was fired for stealing. Sounds like they just wanted to find reasons to let you go. I am sorry to hear about this. I truly hope you find a great paying job that will take care of your family needs. Keep your chin up. Someone will be lucky to have you as an employee if you are hard working. Take care. Angel....CM
