Well, the good news is my lake is filling up again. The bad news is that it has been raining for a few days and now Fay is just sitting off the coast from us - NOT MOVING! We are just inland from Daytona and we have been getting pounded for over 15 hours!!! Is this thing ever gonna leave?

I hope you get some relief soon! Best wishes for your safety. By the way, that is a super cool tree in your front yard!! You don't see anything like that in Illinois. Thanks Everyone! We are hanging in there. It's still raining. A lot of the area is flooded. We still have power so that is relief enuf for now!! Here's an article from our local tv station: VOLUSIA COUNTY DEALING WITH FLOODING
As the storm slowly moved north, more areas began to flood. Florida Hospital in Port Orange (see map) reported water was seeping into its emergency room. The hospital moved patients, closed the ER and was diverting traffic to other hospitals.
The ER sits in part of the hospital grounds that are slightly lower than other parts. Water was up to the windows of cars in the parking lot.
The Volusia County towns of Deltona and Osteen were dealing with high waters in areas that historically flood. Deltona had been deluged with more than 19 inches of rain on Thursday alone.
In DeBary, Pine Meadow Drive homeowners (see map) were pumping water and digging trenches to keep water away from their houses. Mary Johnson was thinking about people in Brevard County, to the south, as she watched the water creep closer and closer to her doorstep.
"You feel sorry for them and pray for them," she said, her voice cracking. "Then you turn around the see it in your own home. It's unbelievable."
Some DeBary residents told Eyewitness News they were upset they didn't see the city doing more to get water out of the streets. The city said it has 16 pumps in subdivisions and on major highways to get as much water as possible out of the area. We are in Deltona. Debary is the next City over. The hospital that is flooded is between here and Debary. I guess 19 inches TODAY explains why my lake is coming back. It rained all day yesterday too and is supposed to continue tomorrow as well. I'm getting cabin fever bad though!! Carol, my husband planted that tree when my son was born 4 years ago. It wasn't all that little when we got it. It came on a truck. It's called a Canary Island Palm. They grow up to 60 feet tall. We are thinking about selling the house and that is the one thing he does not want to leave behind!!

The majority of the rain is gone now. We are getting the occasional shower and winds from the outer bands but the sun hasn't been able to get out for any length of time. The lake is nice and full. It looks strange because it's been so low for the last year and a half. Thanks for checking on me everyone!!
I think we are all in the clear. There are some places around town that still have standing water but not where we are.
Now there is concern about the St. Johns River flooding once all the run off has reached it. We aren't that close to the river but I think it will only affect homes directly on the River.
I'll post some more pics of the lake that I took today. I can't believe how quickly it filled up.
