Addendum to the Rules (added 1/23/08). Please note we WILL ban posters for the breaking of these rules. No one has time to babysit.
1. Use proper punctuation, spelling, and capitalization at all times. Misspelled, nonsensical, or improperly punctuated posts may be deleted or edited, and eventually banning will occur. Also, please don't use more than two or three smiley faces in a row.
2. If you feel a post is innappropriate or spamming, please contact a mod about it by PMming one of us. Do not reply to the poster or pm him/her. To add to the fire is ALSO considered Spamming.
3. When posting images, please include a note detailing where/how you found the image (i.e. "Ebay, search for Pet Shop Goat Hideous.") or a link to that page.
4. As of this writing, it is acceptable to post open auction links.
5. Please do NOT post a second post immediately following one you've just made. Instead, edit the original.
6. One-word posts are not acceptable. Please try and add something productive with each post you make, even if it is as simple as "Wow, I really like this new paint combo."
7. We welcome negative opinions of pets, Hasbro's marketing / product line plan, etc. We do not, however, welcome negative or critical opinions of other posters' opinions. Unless it is a respectful discussion of points, keep it to yourself.
8. Regarding E-bay Prices and "Scalpers": Please do NOT comment on the prices at which sellers are selling their items. Beyond choosing whether or not to purchase these items, it is none of your (or the board's as a whole) business. However, if you are unsure if a price is fair, please do post a price check to find out before you overspend. (Obviously in these cases feedback regarding price is fine.)
9. Subject lines should be a detailed summary of what we'll find in your post! Please don't make subjects anything like the following: (Look.; I found.; Does anyone.; Wow!; Question.) Instead, be specific: Look at the new Moose!; I found all the new nook pets at Target!; Where can I preorder pets?; Wow! New pics on bbts.com! (Seahorse!); etc.
10. Please don't worry about posting old news, other than making a scan of the most recent pages. It's not a crime against nature
. We'll just lock your post for you. However, DO scan the most recent pages first! Thanks!
11. Signatures: We haven't had a guideline in the past, but overlarge signatures are distorting the board. Please keep all sigs under 200 h x 500 l. Mods may remove them from your sig line if they are too big or distracting. Two lines of text if you have a graphic; five lines if you don't.
Quick guide to the areas of the forum:
a) Introductions: Please make your first post here and tell us a little bit about yourself and/or your interest in LPS.
b) Old School Discussion: Talk about the original line from the 80's/90's, and post G1 sales/trades/wishlists/auctions.
c) New School Discussion: Talk about the new line.
d) Show and Tell: Post pictures of your collection and/or tell stories of new purchases. (When an item is found for the first time in stores, it is appropriate to post it in the Discussion area.)
e) Art / Adoptables: Customs, Art, Adoptables.
f) Trading Post: Self explanatory... go shopping or sell your stuff! Advertise your ebay auctions in the "Auctions" section. Note that G1 stuff can be posted in the G1 discussion area.
g) Friends Discussion: Talk about anything besides LPS, but please keep it G rated. If you wouldn't read it out loud to your four year old for fear she'll repeat it in public, it probably doesn't belong in Friends.
h) Reference Galleries: great references for tracking your collection. Questions may be posted in these forums or in the Discussion areas (but will probably get a quicker answer in Discussion).
Rules for the LPS Collectors Board:
Any post violating the board's rules may be subject to deletion, locking, or editing without warning at the moderators' discretion. Members found to be violating the rules may be banned by ID, IP address, or Email.
1. No mulitple IDs.
2. New Members: We ask that you post an introduction before posting in the main forums. This will give us the opportunity to properly welcome you as well as let us know that you've read the site rules.
3. No Profanity. As this is a free site hosted by proboards, we must follow their rules or be subject to removal.
4. No Flaming! All members are expected to treat each other with respect and decency. Threats will not be tolerated. Refrain from name-calling, ridiculing, and mean spirited remarks. All posts are subject to removal. Excessive involvement in heated topics or repetative derogatory comments in others' threads, will result in suspension or permanent banning. This rule also applies to private messaging. If it comes to a moderator or admin's attention that you have been harrassing other members or excessively private messaging them without their consent, you will be IMMEDIATELY banned without any prior warning!!!
5. Keep all content on a PG-Rated level. Refrain from using profanity. Please do not try and fool the word filter. Posting images of a graphic or adult nature is grounds for an immediate banning.
6. Personal pleas for charity are strictly prohibited.
7. Posting of Live auction links is discouraged, unless you are the seller of said auction, then you may post your link in the auctions forum accordingly. As the site grows, we may discontinue allowing live links.
8. Do not flood or spam the boards. Refrain from creating new posts to discuss a topic that already has a current thread devoted to it unless the thread is more than two weeks old. Do not bump threads that are more than two weeks old as that is considered necroing!
9. No trolling. If a member is expected of trolling, they will be suspended pending further investigation.
10. Observe others' right to privacy: Posting any individual's street address or telephone number is grounds for immediate banning.
11. Please do not use all caps. It is considered to be yelling. An exception to the rule is to emphasize excitement; however, please do not use all caps on a regular basis.
12. Please refrain from using netspeak / typespeak. We are an international site and some of our members do use translation services.
13. About the owners: Jeni1111 and her husband, Yakima, both maintain the site in their spare time. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to PM either of them at any time.
