Has anyone ever tried a custom degu? I was thinking maybe the squirrel head with the hamster body and ...not sure about the tail. It's not fluffy like a squirrel's or chinchilla's.

I don't know what a degu is. Can you post a photo of a real one?

Oh so adorable From the Wikipedia: "The Degu (Octodon degus) is a small caviomorph rodent that is native to Chile. It is sometimes referred to as the Brush-Tailed Rat (although not closely related to the rat family) and is also called the Common Degu, to distinguish it from the other members of the genus Octodon. Other members are also called degus, but they are distinguished by additional names. The name "degu" on its own, however, indicates either the genus Octodon or, more usually, O. degus. Degus are closely related to the chinchilla and guinea pig, also placed in parvorder Caviomorpha."

Kim Oh that's an awesome idea! You really should do it! What about a shorthair cat tail? If that doesn't work, I have some generic plastic animals that I got for free and plan to use for parts... I can take a pic of some of the tails, and send you one (free) if you want.

Sorry for the late reply! Yes, the shorthair cat tail would work...but I'm not sure about the fluff on the end. Maybe just stick some real fluff on the end? They're also called "Brush-Tailed Rats" in Chile.
I guess mixing white and brown paint might work for the coat? They're all varying shades of tweed.

Yeah... the cat tail looked like it was a good fit. I think using real fluff on the end would be adorable! Not sure what you'd do for the coat... I'm trying to figure that out myself for when I tackle my custom of my doggie Nala... she has a very similar coat (so many different shades, almost like each hair is a different color).. a painting nightmare! Please share if you find a good technique! I was thinking of maybe dipping the brush in one color (light brown?) and then taking a toothpick, dipping it in black, and painting black streaks onto the paintbrush, and then in a smooth stroke painting that onto the LPS.... kinda crazy, and I'd test a few times on paper first.. but I have no clue, really, lol. There are some pictures of my dog's coloring in this thread: lpscollectors.proboards56.com/index.cgi?board=brag&action=display&thread=3962&page=1... it's a lot like the Degu, actually, lol (although a little lighter).

Degus look like big gerbils. I'd love to see a custom LPS one made.
