I know some make wings themselves.. I think I've also heard of cutting wings off of other LPS (butterfly, seahorse, etc) and supergluing them on your custom.. and of course, like you mentioned, getting wings off other non-LPS (I recall E saying she was looking for wings from a TMNT Succubor awhile ago for this purpose). At any rate, I'm far from a pro, but these are just what I've seen from watching the forums for awhile. I'm sure the real pro's can give you their specifics! Good luck!

Experiment. That's what the rest of us do. You'll make mistakes, but when it works its very exciting!

Not sure what kind of wings you want, but if you like fairy wings you can make them yourself. I made some fairy wings today! They aren't great but it was my first try. They aren't too hard to make but they look impressive, and the supplies are fairly cheap. I couldn't get a good photo because they are super-sparkly and have like an oil slick/chameleon coloration to them. I'm still trying to find something clear to seal them hard with though, I'll probably try clear polyurethane or something. I want them to be hard like plastic People also sell these already made on ebay if you don't feel like making them. If you are looking for plastic wings I think you can also cannibalize other toys, like a dollarstore toy and chop the wings off and glue them on. Or you can make them out of a molding compound...

I noticed at Wal-Mart tonight that the wings several Ebayers are using come from a Barbie Set (the new movie, can't remember what it's called) and they come with a set that has 3 little fairy-looking dolls in it. I think they were about $10.

WOW Misty, those are gorgeous! How'd you make them, if you don't mind me asking? They're sooo pretty!
And yeah, moretoys4you, I completely agree- Garage sales are the BEST! We don't have many good ones here, but where I use to live, they were SO awesome. I can't wait to be back around good yard sales again, rawr!

::blush:: aw thanks for the compliments guys. I ended up glueing rhinestones on them too to cover the holes, I couldn't get the holes to match I read somewhere that you should use a soldering iron to make the holes if you want holes. I made them following this tutorial: www.cdhm.org/tutorials/making-fairy-wings.htmlwell, kinda. I did it differently. I superglued all the wires together first because I'm too impatient to wait for glue to dry, and I didn't use a pattern. And I put the glitter glue on the areas I didn't want the candle to accidentally melt. The wire took forever to cut and shape, the whole thing took a few hours, but they were fun to make. Hopefully my next sets of wings will come out better. I got the film and the wire both in multi-color sampler packs for under $10 with shipping on ebay.
