My corgis line actually doens't need docked at all and there is not a stub at all ;D
I have no pics of her butt(But there is some dober BUTT for you to enjoy!)-I have so many of her that you really think I would!
I just bought an extra lps one the other day to hack off the tail so it can look like her:)
And corgis are great dogs but definately not for everyone. there are soooo many in rescue because people think they are a little dog. Basically if you cna't handle a husky don't get a corgi! My girl sheds more than any other dog I have ever met. Its horrible going to a dog show during the time they blow there coats-you cna't get away from the hair! the females are the dominant sex in the breed. The males are more laid back. I'm not sure if this is the same in cardis or not. the bf wants a cardi and we have looked into them at the shows but I don't think he is 100% on anything.
As far as docking and cropping it is something that is necessary. People say its not medically necessary etc but they don't see the dogs with broken tails and ripped ears. the number of tail injuries rises greatly and still results in a lot of dogs loosing there tails-the diffrence is an amputation is a life threatening surgery were as a dock at two days is one snip, they make a little noise, and are back to what they were doing five minutes later.
And jsut because I am huge on animal education here is a post copied from somewere that I wrote ages ago
" Docking should be done as early as possible. An owner should never have the choice to dock their dog because at three days when they need cut by,a breeder will not let pups be picked. Anyone breeding a dog should hold it to its breeds standerds and every litter should be meant for show or working and if not then its just producing shelter pups so ther eis no excuse to not dock. People should not breed purely for "pets".
docking methods vary and soem are better than others. Some numb the dogs up and soem don't. Some pups don;t even react,it all depends on the dog. You could pull up an example of a dog being in pain all day and I could show you one that barely flinched.
For breeds that have been bred hundreds of years with no tail you have to remember that it has not been taken into account. For example in hunting labs the tail is taken into consideration adn if that dog had a tail probalme it won't be bred, but in a dobe you may have been breeding abd tails for years and never known it. so if a litter gets their tails left on you don't know how those tails will be built or how they will lay on the body. Maybe it is becuase i live in the country but I see dogs getting amputations done on their tails all the time. And not frail tails like dobes and boxers but labs and goldens, even a saint bernard. A breeder getting those tails cut at two days is doing a preventative for the dog. Doing a dock will not hurt a dog if done correctly, but an amputation on a broken tail cna paralyze a dog. So are those couple of hours of pain(and its debatable on if a dogs nervoues system is fully formed) too much to possibly save the dog from a horrible surgery later on in life? I've seen the dogs that break their tails every time they wag them. Usually badly bred dogs at the shelter and their idiot breeder thought it would be cheaper to leave them that way and the shelter can't afford to fix it so they pts.
an interesting thing they have done with boxers is take the corgi tailess gene and put it into the boxer. this is a good idea but it needs worked on a lot mroe before I'd want to see it in a dobe.
www.boxerunderground.com/1998%20issues/oct_bu_98/bobtail.htmMy boy would have broke a tail many times if he would have had his left intact. He is such a klutz he has almost broken things firmly attached to him like hips!
If you do ever go to a breeder that says I don;t dock, but you can, run the other way. No one that loves a breed or even their dogs will say it is ok to put a dog through that kind of surgery at the time a pup goes home. the sad thing is I have met dobe "breeders",and I say it loosely, that say they give people the choice! then again these wer ethe same peopel thats dog died because it needed a c section.
As far as the ears go it isn't soemthing every dog needs done. I personally would never buy from someone that didn't get it done because when I get a dobe I am going to be going to a good breeder and a good breeder gets all pups cropped because they are all show prospects and even the ones that are not are representing them. A pup should be cropped before coming home.
I hear people say cropping messes with the dogs communication but you haven't seen my dobes ears then! He has an ear position for everything, never would hav ewith floppy ears. Another thing is all natural dogs have alert ears. WE bred the floppiness into them, and it has caused a lot of trouble for a lot of breeds. I didn't used to think it was that huge of a deal untill we got my dobe. He ws supposed to be cropped but our breeder ended up haivng to move that week so we told her to hold off we would get it done and use soemoen we picked. byron ended up getting an ear infection that cost us hundreds. One of my vets said it was crual to crop ears blah blah blah and that it would go away. Waited took him to my vet that siad hurry and get him cropped or he'll have these chronic infections forever. Took him back to first vet who said we cna just take out the inner parts of his ears and he'll be deaf but fine. So I found a cropper got him done and he was fine the day after we brought him home.
the thing with cropping you have to remmeber is there may be one good cropper in 300 vets. Most vets won;t do a crop and thats a good thing! the idiot that tried to talk us out of it had apparently gotten in trouble for bad crops before so now since he doens't make the money he doesn't reccomend them. The biggest thing is researching a good cropper. this means refferals looking at pics seeing the dogs. this is a huge decision and shouldn't be taken lightly. The after care is not the easiest but it wasn't hard. Byron loved having his ears rubbed and we just ahd to be carefull we didn't rip the tape off. He had pain pills for acuple days but honestly the next day he was a 100% diffrent dog after the ear infection. he had bene miserable. Now if it had been illegal what would we have done? If we would have had to wait to get permission it would have been to late to crop. Now not all dobes will have this problem but I have met more than a few who do.
And I also think a dobe doens't hav ethe regal look witout the crop and dock. thats my opinion and thats how it has been for a long time. I hav ealways seen them with that big gorgoues head and long alert ears and when I see a floppy one all I see is a black adn tan coonhound. I still love em to death cause they are dobes, but i prefer the crop.
Her eis my baby in his xmas pic and his ears are in his give me the treat mode

img.photobucket.com/albums/v195/joceboo/byron_3_finished.jpgand no designer dog breeder should crop. They have no guidelines to follow and if they know the dog has ear problems it shouldn't be bred(I don;t think they should be anyway but that is another topic).
As far as declawing I don't have a pro or con stance really. If it means the cat keeps a home by all means get it done. I also get sick of seeing the things that say cats turn evil after it is done or they start attacking people etc,I have never once seen this and have seen a lot of declawed cats. Maybe I don't care eitheir way because my cats always have clawed up my couch and I don't care:)
excuse my horrible spelling I was typing fast:)"
I am very passionate about the subject as it greatly affects my dogs so any questions throw them at me.
