Are you still planning on going to that Weenie Roast tonight? Well...I had totally planned on it until I woke up Saturday morning...at 11:00 am!!! I did not want to sleep that late. But I was soo tired! But that shot at least 3 hours of my day. I had so much stuff I needed to get done around the apartment. Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, piles of paper stuff, catalogs, bills, crap, crap and more crap that I really needed to wade through. Plus if I was going to go, I had to bring a dish with me. So I would've had to figure out what to make, go to the store to get the stuff for it, then come back and make it. OMG, that was too much for me. I was stressing like a freak. Plus the social anxiety was kicking in. There was no way hubby was going to go with me. He's as anti-social as they come. I was starting to get scared of going, worrying about this and that. You know me! So I chickened out. Not surprising really. I e-mailed my brother-in-law and told him I couldn't go because of all the stuff I needed to get done. I was out-of-town today at my parents', so if I was going to get stuff done, it had to be yesterday. And with kara-tay 2 nights a week, and me being so tired after work, I'm just not staying caught up on my chores like I should. I knew if I started off the week behind, I'd be a mess by mid-week. So, that's my long-winded answer...No, I didn't go. I haven't heard back from my brother-in-law yet. I hope they aren't annoyed with me for not going. Surely not. It wasn't required. But I'll worry until I go to class tomorrow night and see how they react to me. Gawd! I'm pathetic!! Thanks for asking, friend o' mine! Carol

I don't go to a lot of things because of chores. My husband wanted me to go with him to work tonight, but, you know....LAUNDRY.... They are having a special night at Bed Bath and Beyond for the newly married couples to complete their bridal registries and get 20% off. He thought it would be fun for us to meet and greet them. Didn't sound fun to me at all! He won't be home until about 10 and then he's gone on business for the next 4 days. I guess I should have went. I'll hear all about how fun it was tomorrow I'm sure. Anyway - no worries! You wouldn't have been much fun anyway because you would have been worried about all the things you needed to be doing. I totally understand! Smooches to you my little trooper! Keep us filled in on how your week goes at kara-tay, k? Maybe you'll drip some sweat on "Hottie" and it will totally make him even hotter! LOL! Love ya! Judy with the big fat boodie

So I had a pretty good kara-tay class last night. Sensei Hottie and Sensei Cutie were there. Sensei Hottie was in charge of warm-ups though, so we had a harder workout. Push-ups again, and sit-ups galore. Lotsa' stretches that I'd never seen, and very complicated. I guess he was trying to stretch out every possible muscle. He actually was having us do the splits, strraight down, legs out to the left and right. I could NEVER do the splits. And I will never be able to. I was still at least a foot off the floor. Sensei Hottie was almost touching the floor. Sheesh! Everything was pretty normal after that. They did a lot of sparring, but since I don't know much yet, I can't spar. Thank goodness. I'm going to be so nervous when I first spar. I don't know how to put all the individual moves together to actually fight someone. In time, I guess. So after class, Sensei Cutie asked if I had any questions. He's just so adorable. So I asked him if he'd go through with the newest movements I'd learned that night. I finally learned the last 11 moves of the 27 movements kata. But I didn't understand a couple of them. So he went through them with me a couple times. And the FUN part was that (using himself as my opponent) he showed me how these moves (punches, strikes, etc.) are used on a person, not just the thin air. And we did it in slow motion of course. So...there was a LOT of touching! I even got to touch his cute little beard. I don't especailly like the beard, but I've seen pictures of him without it, and he looks 12 years old. I mean, he's still a young one (he's only 26) but with the beard he at least looks older than 12. But you can still see his little freckles. So cute. Anyway, he was showing me how I could strike him in the chin and gouge his eyes with one strike. And then shuto strike to the side of the neck. Like I said, a lot of touching. Very pleasant. And he is super duper nice. He really cares about helping us learn. I wouldn't have the patience to do that stuff over and over and show stupid people like me over and over and over! So, all in all a good time. I'm getting over my nervousness a little bit. Still hard for me, but not quite as bad. Believe me, I don't think about how cute and hot the Senseis are when I'm there. I am actually concentrating. ;D I don't want it to sound like they are the only reason I'm going. Just a perk. Mrs. V (Carol)

LOL!! I know!! I'm so ashamed of myself and my goo-goo-ness over them. I'm sure once I've been around them more, the "newness" of them will wear off and I'll calm down. You'd think I was 13 years old!!!
That was my best Halloween costume EVER!! Oh, to be that size again....Even then you could tell my hips were going to be a problem for me though.
Space Ghost Coast to Coast...and Cartoon Planet. I used to love those shows. Brak, Zorak, Moltar...Tad Ghostly...ahhh good times.

I do the same with guys I work with and some customers! When the hot guys come in, I slather them with service! Unfortunately, there's not that many and there is never any "touching" involved! I'm jealous! I absolutely LOVE that costume. I never watched those show though. It was like they tried to be funny, but weren't to me. Kinda like when I sneaked and watched SNL as a kid. I didn't think it was funny at all because I didn't get the jokes. Now, it's one of my favorite shows!! Smooches! Judy

I had to check in to see how things were going in the dojo. Splits are achievable even after we leave our teen age years. It takes persistence and regular stretching. I was still doing full side splits after the age of 40. You might find it helpful to plop yourself in the floor while watching tv and assume the position. Hold the stretch for a good long time, relaxing periodically and then stretching a bit further with each new resumption of the position. Some of us get more benefit out of a prolonged stretch than a quick stretch like done in class.

Wow, bookjunky!! I'll be shocked if I can ever do the splits, but I'll keep the faith! I do need to do some stuff at home. Stretching especially. My Sensei suggested I also walk around so that my toes are back to get used to that when I kick. And also to walk on the sides of my feet to get used to kicking position. I'm having trouble with side and roundhouse kicks. It's hard to get my feet to do what they should (the right direction, toes back, all that.)
I also need to just get on my knees in the "bow down" position while watching TV. BEcause I have a lot of trouble with that. My knees and feet hurt, and I've gotten 2 nasty toe cramps while doing that.
Thanks for the advice!!
