So, I get bored today and type "Littlest Pet Shop" into the New York Times archive on Proquest and find an article from after they first came out in early 1993. Turns out that the Pet Shop itself (with Lovebirds) was $18.99. The animals themselves were $4.99, $5.99, and $6.99 and could be found at Toys "R" Us, Kay-Bee, and Wal-Mart. I found that to be pretty interesting. Next, there was a CVS ad a few months later with them on sale for $5.99. No WONDER my parents didn't buy me all of them! (Better to get good deals on eBay I always say.) Another article talked about how with the economy toy companies tried to make toys under $20 and make them smaller and smaller to do that. It also talked about the warnings for small pieces and whether or not parents would pay attention. They seemed to have suceeded in the price area but the tiny toy aspect flopped what with silly little kids swallowing/choking on them and losing pieces so the parents had to rebuy the toy. Polly Pockets and Littlest Pet Shop today are huge. Why did Polly Pocket even KEEP pocket in the name (maybe ONE doll can fit in your pocket, not their whole HOUSE). Anyways, just found that to be interesting.

I cannot stand the new Polly Pocket. Growing up I had quite a few of the originals. Then I wen't through a phase where I was too mature to have stuff like that. So I decided to sell all of my Barbies, MLP's, and Polly Pockets at a garage sell. Man, I really regret that. Some little boy ended up buying my Polly Pockets. Anyways, the new version is just not the same.

I also had some of the old Polly Pockets. I eapecially remember the one that was a school on the inside and it had stamps and ink.
P.S. I think the new Polly Pockets and new Littlest Pet Shops suck.
