Two days ago my Grandmother told me about a contest that she heard about on TV. It is a competition that involves writing an essay and sending optional picture and video. The question was, "Why would you be the best person to interview the entire Days of Our Lives cast?" - And the Grand Prize is a Roundtrip for two to Los Angeles and to be able to serve as the Correspondent for the Bonnie Hunt Show when interviewing the ENTIRE cast of Days of Our Lives!
I LOVE Days of Our Lives, so I immediately jumped on the opportunity. I wrote my response to the question.
My Response:
Days of Our Lives has been apart of my life for as long as I can remember. When I was two years old, as soon as heard the Days of Our Lives theme song, I would run up to my family members, squeeze their cheeks together and say, "Lips, lips!".
My budding interest in the show did not end there. Elementary school was when my interest really took flight. I never wanted to miss an episode-no, it was imperative that I not miss an episode. I had my mom tape them for me everyday. I was truly invested in the characters and I needed to watch as Vivian buried Carly, as Marlena became the devil and as Sami lusted after Austin and lied to Lucas. I cried along with Hope, at seven years old I might add, as she remembered who she was and recited the letter she wrote to Bo on her wedding day-by memory! I can remember during lunchtime at school, I would vividly describe what happened on the show the day before to my friends. I felt that everyone should be watching the show, they didn't know what they were missing!
My Middle School and High School years only added to the previous chapters of my investment in Days of Our Lives. During this time, I discovered the internet. The internet was an unexplored database of knowledge that allowed me to fuel my curiosity by hunting for previews of the next show or reading the biographies of my favorite characters, but even more importantly than Days' current events, the internet was a gateway to the shows' past. It allowed me to peer into Days' History and learn about previous characters and storylines that I had been oblivious to previously.
Furthermore, Days has not only become apart of my life, but it has also been a medium through which I can express my creativity. I have recently been trying my hand at fan videos, by setting a series of pictures to a song. I have done Bo and Hope, Sami and Lucas, Belle and Shawn and one that features much of the Days cast.
I hold Days of Our Lives and its characters very close to my heart and to have the opportunity to meet and speak with them personally is something that I thought was only possible If I dreamt it. I would be eternally grateful and forever awed if I were chosen to interview the cast. I'm sure there are multitudes of applicants who are just as invested in the show, but I believe that I am the best choice not only because I am a fan or because I enjoy watching, but because this show represents apart of me and to be able to interview the cast would be like learning more about myself. And that is priceless.

My family said that my entry was very well done, but I feel like they are obligated to tell me that and I don't want to get my hopes up unless I have a decent shot. Do you think I have a chance?
