Hi everyone! Dana, I smiled when I finally sat down and started this thread because I'm 5'8 too and 189 as of this morning. Moving up north has packed the pounds on!!! If you all can do this, so can I. I need to stop whining about how bad I feel and make a few changes. Although, I'm not piercing anything Mouse! Jen

Hi guys.
It's good to read all the threads because I feel like someone understands what I'm going through. E, don't forget too if you eat anything with salt it can make you bloated and be water weight. And Mouse, you are soooo right. I've been weighing everyday and I've lost about 9 lbs. Of course that's exciting so what do I do. I eat a 6in. sub which isn't to bad as I had turkey mustard and lettuce. But all those carbs :-( I ate the whole thing. I do better if I don't weigh every day because I tend to eat worse if I've lost weight. Sounds crazy but I guess I see it as a reward. Big Mistake because food should not be a reward.
I've completely off Sodas and only drinking water and unsweetened hot tea. I also went to the library and loaded up on books from the American Heart Assoc. & American Diabetes for recipes and hints.
If you all don't remember I went to a walk-in clinic at a drugstore. Free blood test showed my levels in the RED zone. Really dangerous and it scared me so bad I am too scared to eat unhealthy. I couldn't get an appt. with a doc. until first of Nov. so I have to been sooo good and careful until I can see someone. And of course I DO NOT want to go on meds.
Anyway this post is so helpful to me. If I don't always post something I can read and I appreciate the advice and the encouragement.
Jen

Well, I've been doing the same. Not eating so great. Only going to karate one night a week (although this Wednesday was a rough workout--I'm still sore from it.) Still drinking soda.
One of my problems (I have SO many) is that I feel that soda is one of my very few vices. I don't smoke, don't drink, don't party, I never have. All I have that I feel is a vice is food and soda. I love soda. I really do. I love it. And I feel if I gave it up, I would hate it. I mean, I might lose weight, but I would be miserable. I know that sounds pathetic, but I really believe that.
I went off soda for a week once, and there was no change in my weight. I know that it was only one week, but I know someone else that went off for a week and they lost weight. So I don't know...I've convinced myself that I can have my soda. I usually only have one a day. Sometimes more.
I should at least drink twice as much water as I do soda. Maybe I could start off that way.
I just know that this medicine I take has messed up my metabolism so badly that I don't think I"ll ever be able to lose much weight again. And that's so disheartening to me. Bah.
Keep up the good work, everyone. Sounds like you all are doing wonderfully!!

Carol, what about dropping something else besides soda? Try a modified WW plan. Have your soda but eat less of something else - kinda like subtracting points from your daily allowance. You may find that you will want to drop soda in order to add the value of real food back in sometimes. Jen

That's a great idea....and just limiting the sodas should help too! I have still been doing really good....although last night I went out for the first time in 6 years! WOW did I have FUN!! I still have to get a ride to pick up my car, as my girlfriend and I were BOTH in no shape to drive. Atleast we were smart and safe! But, considering how often I go out I think I'm good! Lol.

Well, I've been dragging my feet .. and now I'm just gonna jump in.. I've gained alot of weight the past 5 1/2 yrs. since having my third child... having one in your 30's is alot different than in your 20's when it comes to loosing the weight.. I don't think I hardly lost any when I had her and then have just gained since.. I also struggle with anxiety, I've been a "functioning" agoraphobic for the past two years.. I haven't gone further than 12 miles from my home ... and I have to drive myself if I go anywhere so I can "escape" if I need to etc. I've tried a few medications, but the side effects were not good.. I was trying to take medicine to get out of the house more, but the side effects made me feel so bad I didn't want to go out either.. I do have a mild anti anxiety med. that I keep on me and only take when I need it.. and whenever I take it , I want to eat and eat.. so I can't imagine how huge i'd be if I took meds. everyday. Anyway, I 'm too embarrased to say my weight, more than I've seen anyone post so far.. I will say I'm almost 5'8" and I'll be 39 in November. I don't know yet which weight lose program to follow... I did order a workout program.... here is a success story from it www.t-tapp.com/success/charlotte/default.aspIt's a physical therapy approach to exercise and from what I've read on it's forum has helped alot of people with different health issues. I've been told if I exercised and ate better it would go a long way towards helping with the anxiety. So here goes... Thank you in advance for the support and encouragement... I don't get much here at home.. my husband's answer to problems is just to ignore things, and hope they get better... in any area. I will say for him that he never says anything negative or mean to me, he just ignores... TMI, sorry. Anyway, I'm here everyday, so I'm here to give support and encouragement too.. " If you never quit, you win" One of my biggest faults is I try to be Perfect and if I mess up I "fall of the wagon" for good... so I have to just do better the next meal and not beat myself up so much ... I forgot to say my biggest obstacles are sweets and fast food, and Boredom... if I can find a hobby and keep busy I won't think about eating so much! And being the "mom" doesn't help... I always have to think about food cause I have to make everyones meals and do the grocery shopping!

Glad to have you on board with us, Sherry!! Hopefully we can all get a little healthier at least...even if we don't lose weight.
I know what ya mean about fast food. I was VERY bad today, and I'm not even going to say any specifics. I'm too embarrassed...and that doesn't happen very often. But let's suffice it to say that I did it when hubby was sleeping because I knew I shouldn't have eaten what I did.
But tomorrow's another day. Always another chance to do better. That's what I have to keep telling myself.
I know how you feel about the anxiety. I finally had to give in to meds or I couldn't function as well as I do. Stupid meds. Stupid anxiety.
Anyway, thanks for sharing with us, and hopefully we can all help each other!

Glad to see you join too Sherry! It is never too late to get a litle healthier! I stopped counting but have still been watching what I eat. I don't think however it has been as healthy as before as I am not counting! So, I think I should go back to atleast writing the stuff down. I read that you can always do a rating for your food logs, as in put a for good lunch :/ for nutreul and for bad. Even just the writing things downa nd feeling accountable for them helps! I did eat beef stew for dinner the last two nights. my dad makes it from scratch and it is SOO good! Atleast I know I got all my veggies in! I also bought a cleanse kit (vitamins and minerals that clean your body out). That helps get things moving and can bump up your metabolism and even help you lose a few pounds to jump start a diet!

Sherry, I soooo do that "perfect" thing too as in: Well, I had come candy this morning so clearly this day is shot. I'll start eating better tomorrow." The problem with that is that tomorrow turns into next week and then the next month and there's no point around the holidays, right? And then Poof! There's 30 pounds stuck to your butt. Ack. I really want a third baby but as soon as I put this 30 pounds on, ovulation stops. I should have about 12 years of extra eggs in there. And my back is freaking killing me. And is anyone else just amazed at what they can eat? If there's a dessert that is too rich for anyone else, I can eat five. And I frekaing LOVE McDonald's I can eat the 2 cheeseburger meal LARGE sized with fries and a Coke, no problemo! and aside from the fat and calories, there's nothing in that food that actually makes you feel GOOD. I take the kids to our Great wolf Lodge for swimming lessons twice a week. I look like a sausage in a casing that's about 2 sizes too small. I'm glad you are here with us, Sherry. Maybe we can fix some of this together? Jen

Hmmm...a "cleanse kit", huh? Does it make you poop, I guess? Sorry to be gross, but I gots to know. What kind did you get and where did you get it, if you don't mind me asking? I need a "jump start!"

Oh, I know what you mean, Jen! I can put some food away!! I do get a little full, and I don't stop...that's my problem. My husband is disgusting...he can just STOP when he's full. I mean STOP. He might only have one bite of food on his plate, and he doesn't finish it. Because he's FULL!! I say, "What? It's just one bite. And it's good!" But he doesn't eat it. But then again, he doesn't care about food. If he could just take a pill to get his nutrition, then he would. He hates eating. That's some of his depression talking. I, on the other hand, LOVE food. I eat just because I like food, not because I'm hungry.
I always eat more than him...it should be embarrassing, but I'm so used to it now, I don't even notice.

Sherry. Glad to have you. I also agree with the perfect thing. I've been so gooood and Sat. I had some of my dd b'day cake. Then I obsessed about being "bad" the rest of the afternoon:-( When you talked about hobbies, I couldn't help but smile. How about collecting or customizing LPS pets!! I tried to paint those little boogers. That makes me forget anything for the time being :-) I love your quote, " If you never quit, you win" That should be our new motto!

I'm quite intrigued by this "colon cleansing" concept. I've been looking around and this is a rating site that I found. Seems they think Colonix is the best. I might have to check it out. I want to read what real people say about it though. www.naturalhealingtoday.com/colon_cleanse_product_reviews.html?gclid=CNfP29illJYCFQNaFQodpXNOEQEdit: Ok, I've read what some people said...ick!!! I guess it's supposed to really cleanse you, and STUFF comes out...like really gross stuff. The website is cracking me up. Judy...you have to read some of it YOU will love it! Here's an example: "I couldn't believe the stuff that was coming out of me. I had no idea all that junk was stuck inside. I stopped counting at day 36 but up to that point I disposed of a total of 22 feet of mucoid rope, approx. 14 cups of mucus blobs (like jellyfish)... a dozen cholesterol stones." Now I'm going to look at the PICTURES!!
