I would also be afraid to participate in this as I have never done a custom before. I think this is a awesome idea COOLKAT. I can't wait to see everyone's customs. I think this will be really fun to watch from the outside too! Have fun everyone.

I really really think that ANYONE wanting to do customs should not be afraid to start right here. I think any of us would be more than happy to have any custom from anyone! It is the experience that is the best part!
I would be VERY proud to have the FIRST one someone has made! It is supposed to be FUN!!
If you put your heart into something it will have the special touch no matter if you are a beginner or a pro!
I am somewhere in the middle and have the same worries that someone won't be thrilled with mine, but hopefully they know that I worked hard on it to make it special for them (because I will 100%).
Good luck deciding everyone! I am definately on the encouraging side for all the newbies!!

Ok, questions, hmm, where to start! What do you use to primer? Also, to cover the eyes, so I wouldn't have to repaint them (that part makes me a little nervous)? And for a sealer? I am pretty handy with clay/apoxie, so I have no problem with that. Do you use just regular acrylic paints? I'm thinking I can do this. I used to do a lot of sculpting and stuff, I sew pretty regularly and I do tons of scrapbooking, so hopefully if I know the basics, I can start in on it! It looks like so much fun!

I use Krylon Ultra flat black or white primer. It's in a spray can, but a lot of people just paint right onto the pets. I use silly putty to cover the eyes so I don't have to paint them. I use Krylon Acrylic Crystal Clear Non-Yellowing Sealant. Have fun!

What about the bobble, do you put something around their necks, or does it not affect that? Thanks so much for the info, Elizabeth!

No, you don't have to, but it helps to hold the paint better. Yes, you spray it on the pet, outside. An even spray is the key. Some use a paint on primer. The bobble isn't affected by the spray. Happy to help. Keep asking if you think of anything else.

Will have to test it out on a pet, first, and see how that goes, I don't know if I want to commit to sending a terrible custom to someone until I'm sure that I can do it, haha!

It seems this idea of sending customs off, has inspired a lot to start customizing. Awesome!
