Cavies (aka guinea pigs) are my second favorite animal after cats. I know there have been some gen 1 ones but the only pics I have seen are not very big. I would like to see some bigger pics so if anyone has them can you please post some pics?

Here's mine! I don't have the dazzling hair pets ones (probably the set I want the most right now), maybe someone else can post a pic of theirs?

Umg! The dazzling hair ones use the same mold am I right? And as I remember you were looking to mold replicas of the G1 sets. Maybe you can figure out a way to make molds without damaging the hair? Perhaps by using the hair points as fill spots? Tho I do not understand why the one on the right has a tail, since cavies don't have tails. They might be even sweeter without the hair.

haha yeah I never noticed the tail thing until someone pointed it out before.
I was actually thinking about that today, the issue of casting pets with hair. Using the tail hole as a fill spot is a good idea, I wonder how far the hole can stretch, to get the hardened plastic mold out?
I am still trying to figure out how I'm going to do horses with hair, seems trickier =/

i'm so f'ing jealous of the last lot with the guinea pigs. it went for $10.49! what a deal! i wish i was at home trying to win it. i'm all going to work thinkin', "eh, it'll probably go high anyway." whooptie doo on that one.
Anyway, maybe one day when i'm not so lazy i'll post a picture of the dazzling guinea pigs some time. =]

I have no actual experience with mold making, I have just read stuff about it before. I think the silicon is stretchy and should at they very least stretch enough for the cavies. (I just like the word cavy better. It's shorter to type and just sounds more proper since they are neither from Guniea nor are they pigs.) Maybe you could even pour other things into the molds after you make em. Imagine LPS shaped soaps, candles, or even chocolates (yum!).

I brush it and pull it flat, and curl it around a syringe (I do my own dog vaccinations in case you're wondering!) and put a paper clip to hold the tail on (I think normal people use straws and hairpins but I have neither) and then I microwave some water, dip it in, and let it dry before taking the paperclips off. here's a pic: They are a little bit frizzy because their tails keep getting caught on the astroturf. Astroturf and dazzling hair pets do not mix! My curly tail trio kitty's tail looks better in person, I have usually have her on the door of the treehouse so her tail can dangle down and the weight makes it a pretty spiral I need to do the butterflies though, they are a little messy. =p I'm going to do all my dazzling hair pets that way, except for the skunk maybe. I think it looks glamourous

whoa misty... is that the picture... your dazzling hair kitty looks orange compared to mine!!! I think my camera just sucks. It takes the most horrible photos generally. It was like one of the first digital cameras that came out in the 90's. I think I need a new one, lol. Flipday, I think I remember seeing moony say something about it but I think I got the idea for actually boiling the water from a my little pony guide when I was buying the hair for the dazzling hair pets I want to make...

Thanks for bumping this Flipdat. It looks like the Primpin' Guinea Pigs water bottle doesn't have the glitter the Thirsty Guinea Pigs one does. So looks like I don't need to take the bottle from my other Thirsty Guinea Pigs set after all Just a note about hair: sometimes if you just comb it out in warm water, being careful to separate it into small sections & then allow it to dry it will bounce back & you don't need to recurl it. It is very time consuming and if it is really bad can take an hour or more per pet but looks soo much better than a tangled frizzy mess. This has worked really well for my magic water fall pets & tickled pink kitty whose hair is usually a mess unless you get them MIP Maybe we should make a new topic so people looking for restoration hints can find them easier. Here is a photo of the Tickled Pink Kitty after I finished (sorry didn't think to take one before)
