oh, i thought they were nice shelves. i wish i had had enough money to buy the carosaul set when it came out in stores. astroturf would be so cool for the zoo! its so weird, i collected these as a kid yet i never even saw half these sets... never saw the carousel, probably wouldn't have liked it back then anyway, hehehe i'm not sure what else to do besides astroturf, maybe cover the walls and ceilings of the little storage shelf thingys since i found it in the garbage anyhow... flipdat suggested we should all brainstorm creative ideas for displays... mine just kind of look like a bunch of toys on a shelf rather than a scene...

My collection is still in boxes right now, but someday I'd like to do something similar to what I've got for my anime figures collection... The best (and most expensive) pieces from my anime collection are in a giant side-entry curio cabinet, and practically all the rest are on plexiglass slat-wall shelves.
The slat-wall solution is really handy because I can constantly adjust the positions of the shelves.
For those not familiar with slat-wall, it's a commonly used material at many retailers (it's also called slot wall). The "wall" part is essentially a thick board with "slots" cut horizontally into it at regular intervals. You can get various slatwall accessories for hanging all sorts of things, but so far I've just used basic shelves that I get custom made at a plastics place.
One day I may buy some custom cut doll cases too just to protect things better and reduce the need for dusting (the cases would also help ensure no little pieces easily fall off the shelves and disappear).
