Okay, so I previously posted pics of my cinnamon ferret, along with the lament of how I craved another to make a butterscotch... and that very afternoon, another ferret found his way into my home. <3 So here we have, just to refresh your memory (and because I got a new digicam for Christmas so these pics should be a little better. I need to find a new place to TAKE pics besides my desk, though XD) the cinnamon: Comparison shot with a white-faced ferret. I THINK both of my bases for these customs were the darker-faced ferret, however... Both sides... ...and from the back. Ahhhh dead ferret!! No, actually, just showing his underbelly.

Oh gosh! I still need a ferret, and here you are experimenting with them bc you have so many. Lucky you.

Nice job on them. And if you don't mind, if you ever come across another ferret PM cause I'll buy it from you. If not, no worries. You did a good job on those guys tho.

I think that you did a wonderful job. I just love how cute they look. I've been thinking about doing an albino. I'm fortunate enough to live near a Meijer store that restocks the LPS singles quite regularly, so for $1.99 each, it wouldn't be so bad. They're not so hard to find in my area and I'm sure that's the case in Beanie's area. I really like the Butterscotch. Also, let's please keep this thread civil. Any derogatory / inflamitory remarks will be removed.

For those who asked for me to help in finding ferrets: I still have a handful of customs to make for myself, three people have already requested custom commissions, and several more have expressed interested - so you're in the queue after them.
*Edited to remove comments... I'm taking care of the situation. *hugs* ~Jeni*

Oooh, that makes me want some butterscotch. *Butterscotch pony shrieks and runs and hides* Do ferrets really come in that coloring? That's neat .

They do! But they're hard to come by - you'd be hard pressed to walk into a petstore and find one! The other specialty colour is a champagne, which is more on the beige side with lighter guard hairs. Besides the common albinos and red-eye whites, there's also silver and a more gun-metal colour, which can be tipped with blacks or some just look like an old-man ferret. XD That's not even mentioning all the different patterns, like siamese and dalmation! Panda ferrets are another favourite of mine, but they have a genetic tendancy to be deaf, so you won't find many of them either.... Ferrets have quite a rainbow of variety to them!

Nice Work....I am not familiar with the real ferrets, but one time we went camping and went out hiking and come back to the tent and there was a ferret inside.....How it ended up there is a mystery!!!! He/she wasn't to happy to see us, we were able to catch it and take it to the rangers station, and I have no idea what happened to him after that.....

Beanie--how did you do it? Is that paint or did you use sandpaper (sorry if stupid question--I honestly do not know)?

It is indeed paint! I just use regular craft acrylics. First I paint on whatever base coat I want - for the butterscotch it was a kind of buttercream shade and the cinnamon had a very reddish brown (I tend to mix colours more than using stuff straight from the bottles.) Then I started adding on the highlights and markings like the mask, the stripe on the back, underbelly, et cetera. My technique is to put a little bit of paint on, and then get a dry brush to start blending. That gives it a really nice fade effect. Once it's all finished I go back with some sandpaper to smooth everything down, and then usually I have to go back and do some touchups again. It might work better to sand down and then do a primer coat, and then paint over that... but I just haven't been able to experiment much yet! I'd like to get some collies to practice on, but I can't find more in stores and paying $3-4 plus shipping is a bit costly just to customize ^^;
